I am usually not the biggest fan of Scootaloo, but this scene warmed my heart. It was like watching an orphan child finding comfort in a new family for the first time. For all we know, Scootaloo had no one to hug or comfort her up until this point.
I never needed to forgive her because I understood her. She has a very rare character type, but even before Ep16 I kind of figured that something about her that was not so plain and simple.
Rarity:"Go on. Go on." Twilight: "Go on what?" Rarity: "Find a spell that would give us wingless ponies into cloudsdale. Didn't you see how nervous she was?" Applejack: "Nervous? Have you spit your bit or something? She was tooting her own horn louder then the brass section of a marching band" Rarity: "Oh please. I've put on enough fashion shows to recognize stage fright when I see it? We've got to be there for her."
Can you link me to that fic?
There are many different interpretations of what her childhood was like, but in the end most of them end in her parent(s) dying, which is why her fear of being alone or losing her friends borders on traumatic. A fan observation is shown here, in the third to last question...
The point is, people with deep trauma sometimes wear masks over their personality. Someone will pretend to be boastful, rude, arrogant and wanting fame, and in reality they have massive self doubt and actually wants to be the best for the sake of others being safe and being the best as well. Sometimes the mask overtakes their original intent like in Mare-do-well, but when episodes like Wonderbolt Academy and other episodes rubs more real and serious arrogance she pretends to have, it causes her to drop her mask. Quitting fame, fortune, her entire life's dream over recklessness and taking advantage of others being accepted?
There is insane strength of character behind her facade of being a jerk.
And honestly, what Rainbow had dealt with in her childhood in this fanfic is worse than having her parents die. It also has a good description of the relationship between Applejack and her parents as well.
And don't worry about that. I'm used to shipping, so long as its within the realms of character chemistry, and works WITH that. RarixSpike ApplexDash TwixDash RarixDash PinkiexDash FlutterxDash RarixJack TwixCelest DiscxCelest
Shipping with side characters sometimes works (Spitfire, Gilda, Fancy Pants, etc) but beyond those, any shipping between the main characters would seem like crack shipping to me. Hard to read anything with crack pairings.
This episode really made me tear up, personally i've always thought Scoots obsession with RD was more then just hero worship, but most likely steemed from the lack of a strong female figure in her life, mixed with the fact her two best friends *three now if you count Babs* all have big sisters where as she does not. I can only imagine how lonely that has to make a little kid er filly feel. I'm glad Rainbow agreed to take her under her wing and become her Mentor/ Surrogate Big-Sister. Although now more then ever I hope we get some info on Scoots home like in the future, At this point i'm betting on a single-parent situation like she has a dad but no mom, or maybe an older brother or Grandparent that raises her but no Mother figure. I mean it would help explain her wish/desire to have dash Take her under her wing. *Or the fan theories about her being an orphan might have some chance of being right now as well, who knows*
But i'm rambling, so.. YAY SCOOTALOVE! Let us enjoy the moans of all the Scootabuse fanfics & fanart slowly dying in agony because of this episode!
Yeah for some reason certain sects of fans like to write stuff about scootaloo getting abused by dash, but like the whole cupcakes "pinkie is crazy evil" kinda thing its pretty much died down, and this episode will surely be the final nail in that coffin.
But yeah, thank you for enjoying my ramblings, I do so enjoy rambling! XD
Anywho VIVA SCOOTALOVE! I hope we see more Dash/Scoots episodes as the series progresses! *although hopefully we wont have to wait another 3 seasons for the next one XD*
Right...? Twilight has a BIG family... She has Spike, who's like a little brother to her, Armor, her older brother, Cadence, her sister-in-law, her birth parents, and Celestia and Luna, her mentors who act as a mother-figure and an aunt... Pinkie might not be around her birth family anymore, but Mr. and Mrs. Cake have taken her in and the baby Cakes would scream their heads off if "Auntie Pinkie" was gone... Rarity and Sweetie Belle might not always get along but they are very close as far as sisters go... Applejack, well, outside of Big Macintosh, Applebloom, and Granny Smith she actually has the largest family of any of the Mane 6, she's probably related to half of Ponyville in some way or another...
