I am usually not the biggest fan of Scootaloo, but this scene warmed my heart. It was like watching an orphan child finding comfort in a new family for the first time. For all we know, Scootaloo had no one to hug or comfort her up until this point.

This scene made the episode for me, and the episode was already really good. Thank you for this vector!

That scene actually made the SEASON for me, with "Raise This Barn" being a close second. Also, you are very welcome. :)

I think the fact that Scootaloo is likely an orphan and Rainbow Dash likely lost her single father early in life makes this scene all the more touching. ;_;

Best episode :)

I did read this fanfic recently that involved the type of relationship Rainbow Dash had with her parents, and geez, I couldn't help but forgive her for all her arrogant moments.

I never needed to forgive her because I understood her. She has a very rare character type, but even before Ep16 I kind of figured that something about her that was not so plain and simple.

Rarity:"Go on. Go on."
Twilight: "Go on what?"
Rarity: "Find a spell that would give us wingless ponies into cloudsdale. Didn't you see how nervous she was?"
Applejack: "Nervous? Have you spit your bit or something? She was tooting her own horn louder then the brass section of a marching band"
Rarity: "Oh please. I've put on enough fashion shows to recognize stage fright when I see it? We've got to be there for her."

Can you link me to that fic?

There are many different interpretations of what her childhood was like, but in the end most of them end in her parent(s) dying, which is why her fear of being alone or losing her friends borders on traumatic. A fan observation is shown here, in the third to last question...

The point is, people with deep trauma sometimes wear masks over their personality. Someone will pretend to be boastful, rude, arrogant and wanting fame, and in reality they have massive self doubt and actually wants to be the best for the sake of others being safe and being the best as well. Sometimes the mask overtakes their original intent like in Mare-do-well, but when episodes like Wonderbolt Academy and other episodes rubs more real and serious arrogance she pretends to have, it causes her to drop her mask. Quitting fame, fortune, her entire life's dream over recklessness and taking advantage of others being accepted?

There is insane strength of character behind her facade of being a jerk.

Warning: There is shipping.

And honestly, what Rainbow had dealt with in her childhood in this fanfic is worse than having her parents die. It also has a good description of the relationship between Applejack and her parents as well.

Thanks. :D

And don't worry about that.
I'm used to shipping, so long as its within the realms of character chemistry, and works WITH that.

Shipping with side characters sometimes works (Spitfire, Gilda, Fancy Pants, etc) but beyond those, any shipping between the main characters would seem like crack shipping to me. Hard to read anything with crack pairings.

It's a Kamina and Simon kind of sibling relationship... Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, not sisters by blood but of the soul!

I was thinking the same thing :D
